Location
History
Ginza Station is a Tokyo Metro station in Chuo ward, Tokyo, on the Ginza, Marunouchi and Hibiya lines. Its station numbers are G09, M16 and H09 respectively. The station opened on 3 March 1934 as a Tokyo Underground Railway stop, with funding from Matsuya and Mitsukoshi. The Marunouchi Line arrived on 15 December 1957 as a separate station, Nishi-Ginza. On 29 August 1964 the Teito Rapid Transit Authority opened the Hibiya Line platforms, and Nishi-Ginza was merged into Ginza Station the same day. Tokyo Metro inherited the station on 1 April 2004, when the Authority was privatized. A renovation was completed on 16 October 2020. The layout is identical on all three lines: one island platform, two tracks.
Notes
On 17 November 2007, table tennis, fencing and taekwondo matches were held inside the station to promote Tokyo's bid to host the 2016 Summer Olympics.
