History
Ekawasaki Station opened under Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 26 March 1953 as the end of the line, becoming an intermediate stop when the section to Wakai opened on 1 March 1974. Freight handling ended in October 1974, baggage handling in February 1984. JR Shikoku took the station over on 1 April 1987, when JNR was privatized. It replaced regular staff with one contract employee on 1 April 1995 and withdrew that employee on 1 October 2010, leaving the station officially unstaffed. The station is on the Yodo Line in Shimanto, Kochi Prefecture, 42.7 km from Wakai, the line’s starting point. Its station number is G34. It has a ground-level island platform serving two tracks, plus stabling tracks.
Notes
As of 10 April 1988, the last train from Uwajima, which left at the end of the 10 p.m. hour, did not reach Ekawasaki until after midnight.
