• Ibusuki Makurazaki Line: Matsugaura ⇄ Mizunarikawa

Ei-Ōkawa Station opened on 31 October 1963 in the Beppu neighbourhood of Eichō in present-day Minamikyūshū, on the day the JNR Ibusuki Line was extended to Makurazaki and renamed the Ibusuki Makurazaki Line. From the start it was unstaffed and limited to passenger handling, and it has never received a station building — only a single side platform with one track. JR Kyushu took over operation at the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987. The platform sign carries a "kisu fishing" icon, a reference to local angling culture along the nearby coastline.
