Location

History

Dobashi is a stop on the Hiroshima Electric Railway in Sakai-machi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima, where the Eba Line branches off the Main Line. Its station number is M12. It opened on 8 December 1912 as Dobashisuji, a stop on the Main Line, and took the name Dobashi in the Taisho era. The Eba Line opened on 26 December 1943. On 26 December 1944 the Main Line's former southern route, where narrow streets and tight curves slowed trams, was closed and replaced by a route through Tokaichi-machi. After the atomic bombing on 6 August 1945 the Main Line was restored in stages, and the Eba Line resumed on 1 November 1947.

Notes

The stop is read Dobashi, but the area southeast of it, whose name begins with the same two characters, is read Dohashi instead.
