Cable Hiei is the upper terminus of the Eizan funicular and shuts down with the rest of the line every winter (early December to mid-March, excluding the New Year's holidays); it is also adjacent to Rope Hiei on the Eizan Ropeway, providing the standard transfer between the two systems.
