Busshozan was once the junction for the Shiōnoe Line, a gasoline-railcar branch to the Shiōnoe hot springs that opened in 1929 and was scrapped in 1941 as a non-essential wartime line; the right-of-way inside the station now hosts the Busshozan workshop.
