History
Bōeki Center Station opened on 5 February 1981 as part of the original Port Liner alignment from Sannomiya to Port Island. Built directly above National Route 2 in Chūō-ku, Kobe, it has a single elevated island platform with two tracks and an underground passage was added between the surrounding sidewalks. Service was suspended on 17 January 1995 by the Great Hanshin earthquake; the Sannomiya-Nakakōen segment that includes this stop reopened on 31 July 1995. Further line-wide shutdowns followed on 20-21 November 2004 and 10-11 September 2005 to allow track switching during the Kobe Airport extension. An elevator was installed inside the station on 30 March 2018.
Notes
The station sits next to Japan's shortest national highway, Route 174, which links the surrounding district with Kobe Port.
