Bizen-Nishiichi Station opened on 1 January 1939 as an intermediate stop on the Japanese Government Railways Uno Line in what is now Minami-ku of Okayama City. The station was closed between 1 November 1940 and 14 November 1950, and on 25 September 1968 it was moved 250 metres toward Uno to accommodate a passing-loop expansion to two platforms and tracks. It passed to JR West at the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987. The unstaffed station is also served by the Seto-Ōhashi Line, which continues across the Great Seto Bridge toward Takamatsu.

Marine Liner rapid trains generally bypass Bizen-Nishiichi on the way to Takamatsu, but a handful of morning runs do stop — and ICOCA fare-history printouts label this station with the abbreviated form "備西市" rather than its full name.
