History
Babasakichō Station opened on 1 November 1987 as a JR West addition to the Sakai Line, one of four stations added to the route in the company's first year after privatisation. A ticket vending machine was installed in March 1993, and the station became compatible with the ICOCA card via on-board readers from March 2019. The unattended stop sits 17.2 kilometres from the line's terminus at Yonago, with a single narrow side platform tucked beneath an adjacent rail overbridge; the entrance is reached through the underpass.
Notes
Among the Sakai Line's yōkai-themed station nicknames, Babasakichō is designated "Kijimuna Station" after a tree-spirit yōkai from Okinawan folklore.
