• JR Yamaguchi Line: Higashi-Aohara ⇄ Nichihara

Aohara Station opened on 15 July 1924, added by the Railway Ministry between Nichihara and Iwami-Yokota on the Yamaguchi Line. Freight handling ceased on 1 April 1967, and parcel service ended in February 1984 with simultaneous destaffing. JR West took over on 1 April 1987 with the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways. Originally two opposing side platforms allowed train crossings here; the up platform was decommissioned on 25 March 2017, and although the old platform and trackbed still remain, the on-site level crossing is fenced off to prevent access. There is no station building, so passengers reach the platform via stairs and a slope at the Yamaguchi end.

A monument on the platform commemorates Oba Masatoku, who founded Japan's first industrial-cooperative-run medical service in Aohara.
