History

Aobayama Station opened on 6 December 2015 with the Sendai Subway Tōzai Line's inauguration, numbered T02 and sitting 2.1 km along the line from its western terminus at Yagiyama Zoological Park. Construction began in 2006 after the working name was announced in October 2000, and the final name was confirmed on 24 December 2013. The station serves the Aobayama campuses of Tohoku University and Miyagi University of Education and takes its name from the Aobayama hills of Sendai. Its single island platform lies on the sixth basement level, roughly 34 metres below ground, with ticket gates on the first basement level and entrances on the north and south sides.

Notes

The platforms sit roughly 34 metres below ground level, on the sixth basement floor of the station.
