Location
History
Akuragawa Station opened on 30 January 1929 on the Ise Electric Railway's Yokkaichi-Kuwana segment. Wartime consolidation brought a rapid succession of operators: Sangū Express Electric Railway absorbed Ise Electric on 15 September 1936 and renamed the line the Nagoya Line on 7 December 1938; Osaka Electric Tramway merged with Sangū Express on 15 March 1941 to form Kansai Express Railway; and a further merger with Nankai Electric Railway on 1 June 1944 yielded today's Kintetsu. A pair of passing loops added on 8 December 1971 during the Kintetsu-Yokkaichi elevation works survived until 17 March 2018, when the four-track island layout was reduced to two opposed side platforms. PiTaPa service began on 1 April 2007 and a station-front plaza opened on 18 July 2025.
